The Project: Giffard Wind Farm

Overview:

Onshore wind turbines.
The Giffard Wind Farm site is located within the designated Gippsland Renewable Energy Zone (GREZ).
New transmission infrastructure as part of the GREZ will be required to connect the project to existing transmission infrastructure in the Latrobe Valley.

Project Timeline:

Subject to site assessments and planning approval, construction of the project is planned to commence in 2026 - 2027, with the site expected to be operational in 2028 - 2029.

The Giffard Wind Farm project will form a critical part of the National Electricity Market’s (NEM) energy future and enable significant employment and economic opportunities within Gippsland and the surrounding regions.

Octopus Australia is also actively constructing the Fulham Solar Farm and Battery project near Sale, which will generate enough energy to power 39,000 homes once operational. The project was awarded a supply contract by the Victorian Government under its Victorian Renewable Energy Target VRET2 reverse auction and is expected to commence operations in 2027.
